Bad Board?…or Sabotage?

One of the young pups who works in our warehouse brought us a broken deck that he had just set up, with a WTF look on his face.

After taking a closer look at the break, we could clearly see a clean-cut running from rail to rail, exactly where his grip tape line was. He admitted he cut his grip on the deck inadvertently cutting through the entire 1st ply of the deck.

Skateboard decks are made up of 7 ply’s of veneers for a reason!! When you cut your grip tape design on your board you are scoring the top face veneer, making it a lot weaker!! As you can see in the photo, the board broke exactly where the grip design was cut.
